FloorRight hangs at the "Checking to see
if you are eligible for a trial license" dialog, how do I fix it?
You can change the default save directory for FloorRight by editing
the shortcut or the Start program entry. To modify the shortcut, right-click
on it and select "Properties" from the popup menu. This
will bring up a tabbed dialog. Select the "Shortcut" tab.
Here you can change the "Start in" line to set the default
save directory for FloorRight.
To change the "Start" shortcut for FloorRight, start by
right-clicking on empty space in the Start toolbar. Select "Properties"
from the popup menu. Select the "Start Menu Programs" tab
from the tabbed dialog that comes up. Press the "Advanced"
button. Select "Programs" from the left-hand window. Double-click
the "FloorRight 2004" or "FloorRight Commercial"
folder in the right-hand window. Right click on the "FloorRight
2004" or "FloorRight Commercial" icon that comes up
next. Select "Properties" from the popup menu. This will

The easiest way to handle cove molding is to bring up the Job Estimate
dialog. Enter "Cove molding" into the first blank line in
"Item name" under the appropriate material. Press "Enter"
when you are done. This will create a new blank line--this is correct.
On the "Cove molding" line you can enter more information
in the "Description" column if you want. In the "Based
on" column, you need to select "Room perimeter". Then
press the "Enter" key again. The Quantity column will be
filled in with the correct perimeter. In the "User" column
you can enter a percentage which will be added to the quantity--for
example, entering "7" means that 7% will be added to the
quantity. You can then enter a unit price and tax to get the total.
If you need to turn a room, you can do it using the Layout menu.
Select the room you want to turn. Then, select a direction from the
Layout menu--either "Lay room north", "Lay room south",
"Lay room east" or "Lay room west". You can shift
the room back to normal by selecting "Lay room as material".
If you want to set seams and stock to automatically resize when you
go into seam/stock view, then you need to set an option to do it.
Select "Options" from the "Edit" menu. If you
want the seams and stock to automatically resize, then check the "Automatically
zoom seam/stock" checkbox. Otherwise, uncheck the box.
The advantage of automatically resizing is that you can see all of
your rooms when you switch to seam/stock view. You might not want
this option set if you have carefully zoomed in on your rooms to see
the seams in detail. Generally, you probably will want to automatically
resize.
Saltire has tested current shipping digitizers from GTCO
and Summagraphics. If you
own a different digitizer, it may work with FloorRight if it is Wintab
compliant. Refer to your digitizer's manufacturer or check
this website for a list of Wintab compliant hardware.
FloorRight should work with any Wintab
compliant digitizer. Refer to your digitizer's manufacturer or check
the website for a list of Wintab compliant hardware.
In order to have FloorRight recognize your digitizer it must have
the correct Wintab drivers installed. If you have a digitizer installed
on your computer and it has the correct wintab drivers then it should
work with FloorRight. You can also look at the next question.
If you are having problems getting FloorRight to work with an existing
digitizer then refer to the section on Digitzer
Troubleshooting. You should also refer to your digitizer manufacturer's
documentation.
On some computers, FloorRight may hang while checking for a trial
license. If so, you need to run FloorRight once in Safe mode on your
computer. After that, FloorRight should work fine in normal Windows.
To run FloorRight in Safe mode, you need to reboot your computer.
Go to Start, and select Shut down. Select Restart from the dialog
box, and OK out of it. Then press and hold the CTRL key until the
Startup Menu appears. For some machines, you can use F8 instead of
CTRL to bring up the Startup Menu. Select Safe mode from the menu
(usually, it is option #3), then press the ENTER key.
